Helen Louise Hammond

Helen Louise Hammond (nee: Abbey) of Saint Peters, MO, formerly of Fairfield, IA, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Rex Hammond; cherished daughter of the late Rex Perry Abbey and Pearl Pattison; devoted mother of Karen L. Hammond, Rex "Steve" Hammond, and the late Richard Hammond; loving grandmother of Robin, Jennie, Cheryl, Rex L, and Wendy; treasured great-grandmother of eight and great-great-grandmother of one; dear sister of Donna Wallarb; and loving aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Helen is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Marianne Hammond; brothers Rex "Dale" Abbey, Robert Pattison, and Richard Pattison; and sister Joan Pattison.

Helen in her earlier years enjoyed upholstery, quilts, and cooking. She dearly loved spending time with her family, making sure they were well provided for, and will greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made to Element Church of Wentzville, MO or American Cancer Society.

A private urn burial will take place at a later time to join Helen with her husband at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.
