Helen Becky Gordy

Helen 'Becky' Gordy, age 91, of St. Charles, Missouri, formerly of Lakewood, Washington, Wheaton, IL, and Canajoharie, NY died peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 surrounded by family. Loving wife of 68 years to the recently departed Harold C. Gordy; beloved daughter of the late Hubert Ormond Beck and Geneva Jones (nee Horton); devoted mother of Jane Elizabeth (Donald) West, Richard William Gordy, Susan Katherine (David) Gordy Epstein, and Thomas Charles (Roland Galindo) Gordy; cherished grandmother of Stacey (Matt) Chapman, Jeffrey (Nicole) West, Katherine (Jack) Stahoviak, and Grant William Gordy; treasured great-grandmother of Jacob Chapman, Sean Rose, and Russell Stahoviak; dear sister-in-law of Emma "Boots" Beck; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her siblings Katherine "Nini" Sheppard, Vela Thayer, Opal McLanahan, Earl Beck, Ray Beck, Jim Beck and Bob Beck.
College sweethearts, Harold and Becky were married on the Illinois College campus in Jacksonville, IL. Becky was a devoted wife and mother for her remaining years. Becky was a teacher of math and Latin. She was a master duplicate bridge player, enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, cooking (making the greatest lemon bars), and reading; but most of all she loved and cherished her family.
