Hazel Marie Henderson (nee Robbins) asleep in the arms of Jesus at the age of 73 on Saturday, June 14, 2025 surrounded by family at Garden View Care Center in O’Fallon, MO.
Hazel was born in Bragg City, MO on December 22, 1951 to Thomas and Anna Marie Robbins. Hazel attended Elementary School in Broseley, MO. She attended Provisio High School in Hillside, IL, Jr. High in Orchard Farms, MO and Pattonville Senior High in Maryland Heights, MO
Hazel met her husband, Michael Henderson, at White Castle where she worked the curbside. Ironically, Hazel had three sisters who also worked at White Castle and met their husbands there, too. White Castle became quite the family affair.
Hazel and Michael married on February 27, 1971 in Maryland Heights, MO where her oldest brother and sibling, Rev. Carl Robbins officiated. Hazel left White Castle in 1977 to focus on raising her then two children. Then the third child arrived in September 1978. Hazel continued to stay at home until the youngest started kindergarten. Hazel returned to White Castle in 1983 where she would eventually retire from.
Hazel’s hobbies included crocheting, playing cards on a Friday night with her sisters and brother in laws, and trying out new recipes. In later years, you could find Hazel and her late husband, Michael at the Casino on Saturday nights. Hazel had a heart of gold and was always do things for others. She spent many years as a care giver to her older sister, her Mother-in-law, and her husband. She then had the opportunity to watch her youngest grand-daughter every day until she went off to preschool at age four. Then Hazel continued to keep her part-time.
Hazel is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Anna Marie Robbins; her husband, Michael Henderson; her son, Jerry Henderson; sisters, Shirley Difani, Darline Robbins and Katherine Frymire; brothers, Randy Robbins and Jeff Robbins.
She is survived by her daughters, Hollie Henderson of St. Peters, MO and Michelle (Tim) Kuenz of Wentzville, MO; grand-daughter, Lindsay (Seth) Willeford of Bellevue, NE, grandson, Jordan Henderson of Dallas, TX, grand-daughter, Lauren Dahle of Springfield, MO and grand-daughter, Josslyn Kuenz of Wentzville, MO; great-grandchildren David, Simon and Emma Willeford; daughter-in-law, Maria Araujo-Henderson; bonus grandchildren Arturo Diaz, Vanessa Diaz, and Uriel Diaz all of Euless, TX; brother, Carl (Willene) Robbins of Dallas, TX, brother, Dan (the late Martha) Robbins, sister, Betty (Glenn) Fipps of Ponder, TX; sister, Linda (Jerry) Raulston of St. Peters, MO, brother, Bruce (Theresa) Robbins of Jackson, MO, brother, Mike Robbins of Potosi, MO, Gary (Maureen) Robbins of St. Peters, MO, Diana (the late Rick) Gallamore of Springfield, MO, and sister, Margaret (Anthony) Lawrence of Festus, MO; sister-in-laws Donna Robbins, Barb (Doug) Henderson-Kuennen and the late Patti (Ed) Henderson-Leap; Dear brother-in-law to the late Larry (Linda) Henderson, Dear Aunt, great-aunt, great- great aunt to over 100, dear cousin, life long treasured friend, Donna Sue Wilkerson and many other friends.
Hazel loved her family fiercely, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She treasured every moment spent with them. She will always be remembered for her sacrifices, kindness and putting others first.
The family of Hazel would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Garden View Care Center and BJC Hospice for their care and compassion for Hazel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimers Association or Esophageal Cancer Action Network in memory of Hazel’s late son, Jerry and late brother, Jeff are greatly appreciated.
