Harry Bernard Sunder, Jr.

Harry B. Sunder was born Oct. 29, 1933, in St. Louis, MO. He was the youngest child of Mae and Harry Sunder. He died peacefully on May 2, 2025 in St. Charles Missouri.

Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather and pillar to so many others.

Harry graduated from St. Louis University High School, St. Louis University and served as United States Naval Intelligence Officer with the rank of Lieutenant. Upon his return to St. Louis, he began his business career in purchasing management at Monsanto Co, in St. Louis, MO. There he met the love of his life, Janet (Fletcher) and they were married on November 25, 1964. They lived in St. Charles, MO for over 50 years. Harry was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Charles, where he worshipped, volunteered and served in many meaningful ways. After his retirement, he continued his commitment to service through active involvement with St. Vincent de Paul, and the American Red Cross Blood drives.

Harry and Jan loved to travel, especially attending his Naval Reunions. Harry enjoyed racquetball, tennis, and golf well into his later years. He always loved cheering for the St. Louis Blues and Cardinals and he was an avid Mizzou fan! Harry and Jan loved spending time with family, especially with their three granddaughters, Jenna, Jane and Julia Boessen. Harry loved watching old movies, attending many Symphony and St. Louis Muny performances, entertaining family and friends, and breakfast with a group of retirees – The Procrastinators Club.

Harry is survived by his loving wife, Janet, daughters Gail (Bill) Hunter of Berryville, AR, and Joan (Scott) Boessen and granddaughters, Jenna, Jane and Julia Boessen. He is proceeded in death by his sisters Laverne Moon, Rita Baum, Helen Marks, and Harriet Mudd.

Memorials may be made in Harry's name to St. Vincent de Paul - St. Peter Catholic Church and American Red Cross.
