Harold Eugene Decker

Harold Eugene Decker, born June 3rd, 1932, passed away on January 10, 2026 at the age of ninety-three. Harold was born in Bunker Hill, MO to Mae (Medley) and Jake Decker. The family moved to Salem, MO in 1943. In 1948, Harold joined the National Guard while still in high school, graduating in 1950. In 1951, Harold enlisted in the Navy, where he spent 4 years serving his country in the Korean War. Harold enjoyed being stationed at various places including San Diego, Puerto Rico, and Washington DC. He then moved to St. Louis where he worked at the International Shoe Factory before beginning his career with Continental Can Company. Harold married his love Patty Ann Brown in 1959, and they remained married until her passing in 2023. Harold and Patty enjoyed sixty-four years of marriage and had two daughters, Kathy and Jane. Harold was a loving and devoted husband and father. As an animal lover, he was a wonderful dad to many pets throughout the years as well. He enjoyed fishing, golf, watching baseball, and taking care of his yard and cars. A man of deep Christian faith, Harold was regarded by all who knew him as a person of the highest character. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and loyalty.

Harold is survived by his daughters, Kathy Howard and Jane Decker of St. Charles, MO, brother Jim Decker (Imogene) of Salem, MO, cousin Ken Decker of St. Louis, MO, grandson John Howard and great-granddaughter Mikki Howard. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patty Decker, brother Bill Decker, and sister Erma Sue Gaddy. Harold will be forever loved and deeply missed.

Memorials may be made in Harold's name to Five Acres Animal Shelter.
