Geraldine “Gerry” Kirsch

Geraldine “Gerry” (nee: Povis) of Saint Charles, MO, died Friday, August 21, 2015, at the age of 71. Cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Povis; devoted mother of Eric Kirsch and Nathan Kirsch; treasured grandmother of Wyatt Kirsch; dear sister of Marge (Jeff) Ploudre, Larry (Terri) Povis, and Jane Povis. Graduated from Ferguson High School In 1962. Obtained Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1966.

Her teaching career started in 1967. For more than 40 years she inspired St. Charles county children with her fun loving ways in the early childhood education. Ms. Kirsch, as her students called her, provided loving care and learning to thousands of St. Charles county elementary students. After retirement, she was thrilled by greetings from former students who would speak to her in the community.

Gerry loved traveling with friends, watching her favorite TV shows and spending time with her family. Gerry was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ and attended bible study classes with the Women’s Network at Zion Lutheran Church in recent years.

She was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew her.

There will be a lunch for friends and family after the service and all are welcomed to join.
