Gerald “Jerry” August Paule

Paule, Gerald 'Jerry' August, of St. Charles passed away December 21, 2013. Jerry was born on June 9, 1941 in St. Charles and lived there his entire life.
Jerry will be forever missed by his family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Carl 'Lidd' and Lucretia (Bross) Paule, his sister Rosemary Oldendorph, his brother Carl 'Bud' Paule, his brothers-in-law Everett 'Bud' Hunter and Ed Oldendorph, and his son-in-law Marty Downs. He is survived by Audrey (Hobelmann), his loving wife of 53 years, his children Gerald and Suzanne (Branson) Paule of Kennewick, Washington, Christopher and Debbie (Hicks) Paule of Tampa, Florida, Douglas and Lisa (Grieshaber) Paule of Augusta, Missouri, and Gina and Matt Witte of Warson Woods, Missouri, his sixteen grandchildren Ashley (David) Baker, Aimee (Chris) Swift, Jerry Paule, Taylor and Garrett Deardorff, Kevin, Matthew and Michael Paule, Tyler, Louis, Samuel and Alyson Paule, and Sarah, Kaitie, Claire and Nicholas Witte, two great grandchildren Diesel and Sawyer Baker, his sisters, Patricia Hunter, Carleen Paule of Inverness, Florida, Barbara (Jerold) Jones, Katherine (Robert) Clouser, and Debbie (Lynn) Fisher of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, his sister-in-law June Paule of Merritt Island, Florida, his sisters and brothers-in-law David and Joyce Primeau and Frank and Karen Megargel, and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was born to Carl Herman and Lucretia Paule in St Charles on June 9, 1941 and lost his father at the age of eleven. He left Chaminade Preparatory to assist his mother raising a family, later earning his GED and marrying his high school sweetheart Audrey in 1960. Jerry spent his early career in the trucking industry, eventually managing terminals for several major truck lines. In 1974, Jerry's entrepreneurial spirit led him to the August Busch Wildlife Area in Weldon Springs, Missouri where he managed Busch Lodge until 1983, making good friends with many fishermen, hunters and outdoorsmen. Since then, Jerry enjoyed his time as a successful salesman for Pundmann Ford in St. Charles.
His family, and the many friends he has made over the years, will miss the genuine honesty, kindness and generosity that he carried with him throughout his life. The love given by Jerry was unmatched. He lived his life selflessly, looking to improve the lives of others whenever possible. For a family member, friend, co-worker, or neighbor, Jerry was always willing to go the extra mile to make someone's day.
'Grandpa Jerry' was a staple at his grandchildren's sporting events, graduations, band performances, school plays and church events. Whether he was on vacation or at home, Jerry lived to improve the lives of those around him. Jerry had a personal relationship with everyone in his family'”it was impossible not to feel the love and care that he shared. Jerry's impact was felt by his family, and he will be missed, but always present. Jerry touched the lives of countless people. He was a husband and father, a grandpa and friend, and, most importantly a role model throughout.
During his last few months, Jerry maintained his personality and resolve. His primary concern remained those around him. He continued living his life to the fullest up until his passing. As Jerry looks down from heaven, he knows that his presence is still felt by his children and grandchildren as they try to follow his example in their personal lives.
Visitation services will be held at Baue Funeral Home 620 Jefferson St., St. Charles on Friday, December 27 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 28 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 324 South Third St., St. Charles at 10:00am with interment at St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
