Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Burns (AKA Jake), of Saint Louis, MO, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025, at the age of 63. Cherished son of the late Virgil Elmer and Elizabeth Jane Burns (nee Stephens); dear brother of Margaret "Peg" (the late Dennis) Poeschel, Elizabeth Jane Mitchell, Catherine (the late Gary) Burke, the late Michael (Cheryl) Burns, Stephen Burns, Joseph (Cheryl) Burns; treasured grandson of the late Joseph Howley and Helen Stephens (nee. Hennessey); lifelong friend of Raymond "Butch" (Dee) Cruse and son, Bradley (Angelina) Cruse; beloved uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, cousin, and nephew; friend to all who knew him.
Jerry was an avid St. Louis Blues fan who loved the Grateful Dead and the Blues Brothers. Known for his helpful nature and ability to fix anything, he was always there for others. He cherished spending time with his family and with him being the youngest, he often said, “They save the best for last.” Jerry worked as an HVAC installer and was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 2, later dedicating more than 10 years as a head maintenance man at Drury Inn. He enjoyed supporting his nieces and nephews at their extracurricular events and was known as a prankster with a sharp wit and a fun-loving spirit, always ready for anything. Jerry was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Jerry’s name to the American Cancer Society.
