George L. Wiegmann was born May 26, 1924 in the big old brick farm that still stands on Duchesne Drive. As a child he lived with his family in Harvester and attended Zion Lutheran School. When he was thirteen years old, his family moved to St. Charles and he lived there the rest of his life. He died at home on April 28, 2011, four weeks before his 87th birthday and ten days before his 63rd wedding anniversary to the former Carolyn Hollrah. In his early years, George worked for Rauch Lumber Company and then worked for many years as a milkman for St. Charles Dairy. He left the dairy when he bought The Corner Bar in St. Charles. After selling the bar, he worked part time as a school bus driver and as a delivery man for his son’s business before finally retiring. George was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and an usher. He was a lifetime member of Ballest Pits hunting and fishing club. George enjoyed fishing and playing cards, and was most happy when he was able to do these things with family and friends at his lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks. In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children Karen, Gerry (Debbie) Wiegmann, and Barbara (Robert) Hutchison all of St. Charles, MO and Scott (Patrice) Wiegmann of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by grandchildren Chad (Michelle), Brian (Lindsay), Jay, Grant, Amelia, and Annabel Wiegmann and Rex and Tyler Hutchison; great-granddaughters Piper and Finley; his sister Mary Ann Ross; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Elsa (nee: Bloebaum) Wiegmann and his brothers John (George’s twin) and Harvey. Memorials may be made to Emmaus Home in Marthasville or Immanuel Lutheran Church Debt Reduction Fund.
