George Walter Foster passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, surrounded by family and friends.
Loving husband of 59 years of the late Barbara (nee Woodcock); beloved son of the late Alice (nee Richt) Foster and the late George Walter Foster; devoted father of Donna L. Kleinschmidt and George W. Foster, Jr; devoted father-in-law of John F. Kleinschmidt and Laura L. Foster; cherished grandfather John D. Kleinschmidt, Gregory Foster Kleinschmidt, and Amanda DelCourt; dear grandfather-in-law of Jill Kleinschmidt, Christine Kleinschmidt, and Mark DelCourt; treasured great-grandfather of Kaitlyn, Sam, Maris, Eden, Tanner, and Nash; brother-in-law of Vernon G. Woodcock; and dear uncle and friend to many. George was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
George proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
George proudly retired from Automatic Canteen after more than 42 years as a buyer.
Through the years in his free time, he enjoyed spending time at the lake, wintering in Gulf Shores, playing golf, and was a wicked card player. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan and never missed watching a game. He will be remembered for his fiercely independent spirit, his hardworking nature, and his generous heart.
George had a sweet tooth a mile long and could usually be found with a handful of cookies, his favorite candy, a dish of ice cream, or a chocolate milk shake from Steak ‘n Shake.
A Special thank you to the staffs of St. Joseph Hospital and Villages of St. Peters for the care, kindness and compassion to George and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in $10 increments can be donated to:
