George Edward “Ed” Knight

George Edward “Ed” Knight, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the age of 85. Loving husband of Mary Kozlowski Knight; beloved son of the late George Edward Knight and Dorothy Judt; father of Jeffrey Lee Knight and Jason Edward (Christine) Knight; grandfather of Chanelle Knight (Chad) Hamilton; great-grandfather of Jackson, Haley, and Harper Hamilton; dear brother of Amelia Knight Wyatt; and is also survived by his loved nieces and nephews, and great niece and great nephews. 

Ed was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, but he spent his early and school years in Knightstown, Indiana, where he graduated from high school. Following his education, he served for four years in the US Air Force. 

He then pursued studies in Mathematics at Rollins College, though he did not complete his degree. Ed's career began with a brief stint at IBM in St. Louis, followed by various roles at McDonnell Douglas Electronics in St. Charles, Missouri. There, he worked as an Associate Engineer, Senior Electronics Design Engineer, Manager of Field Engineering and Customer Training, and Program Manager for Flight Simulator Projects. 

Later, Ed took on the role of Program Manager for Simulator Visual Systems at Rediffusion Simulation Ltd. in Crawley, UK. He also worked as a Flight Simulator Engineering Consultant for various companies. His career allowed him to travel extensively, visiting over 50 countries across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East for work and vacations. 

Throughout his life, Ed lived in several places including Knightstown, Indiana; Long Beach, California; St. Charles, Missouri; Linfield, West Sussex, England; Binghamton, New York; Daytona Beach Shores, Florida; and Orlando, Florida. He had a passion for music, enjoying concerts by the St. Louis Symphony and operas live on stage, as well as the Met Operas on the big screen. 

Ed had a range of hobbies, including stamp collecting, oil and watercolor painting, and collecting antique fishing lures. He also enjoyed participating in group exercise classes at the St. Charles Family YMCA. 

Ed was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Memorials may be made in Ed’s name to Smile Train or Doctors Without Borders.
