Genevieve Vera Hoyle – Pack – Sherman

December 17, 1927- October 8, 2026

Genevieve Vera Sherman was received by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the age of 98.

Genevieve was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Vera Hoyle, by her husbands Charles Leroy Pack and Kenneth Sherman, by her daughter-in-law Peggy Pack, and her stepson Russell Sherman and his wife Marge.

Genevieve was the second eldest sibling of five Hoyle children, born and raised in and around Churdan, Iowa, a rural agricultural community. In such a community, everyone learned the value of hard work and support for one another. Genevieve epitomized hard work with a willing heart. From gardening and cooking, to serving in her church, and supporting her family, she set examples of excellence and love in all she did.

With husband Charles Pack, she enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling around the world to places such as Spain, the Bahamas, Curacao, and Hawaii. With husband Ken Sherman she continued to enjoy traveling from Alaska to the Holy Land, and they enjoyed playing golf together. They served for years with Campers on Mission. For several years Genevieve and Ken alternated years between St Charles and Gazelle, California, where Ken's family learned to love Genevieve and her zest for life. Genevieve's living stepchildren include Kathy (Gary) Preszler, Becky (Ray) Preszler, and Bradley (Janece) Sherman.

On her own, Genevieve arranged to join a mission trip to Gambia, Africa, in 2011, at age 83. Having five granddaughters and a grandson, she and Ken managed to get all the grandchildren to tour the state of California with them via motor home.

While living in St Charles, Missouri, since 1963, Genevieve has faithfully served the Ridgecrest Baptist Church is so many ways! ... teaching Sunday School, working in the kitchen, serving in missions, etc. Genevieve's heart was full of joy, and she enthusiastically tackled any challenge. She loved to stay busy! Genevieve also loved music! Hymns were her comfort and joy. She rarely missed a St Charles Summer Band concert, attended many gospel music events as well as Lindenwood University music events. She also loved playing cards and board games and watching her great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Genevieve is survived by her siblings Harold Hoyle, Lyle (Iona) Hoyle, Lowell (Joyce) Hoyle, and Gayle Brietske, as well as her daughter Cynthia (Larry) Harris of Liberty, MO, and their children Natalie Martin, Kelly (Shawn) Rulon, and Stacey (Scott) Green, and her son Gregory Pack of St Peters, MO, and his children Melissa (Eric) Farkas, Casey (Mike) Tiemann, and Shawn Pack. Great grandchildren include Madison and Maleah Rulon, Jacob, Logan, and Brendon Farkas, and Gracie and Kylie Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Genevieve's name to these two organizations, about which Genevieve was very passionate: Ridgecrest Baptist Church (Faith Missions fund) or St. Charles Municipal Band. Memorials may also be made to Evelyn's House.
