Garland Gene “Galen” Smith, of Maryland Heights, 63146, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of 60 years to Linda Smith; cherished son of the late Gale G. Smith and the late Florence “Wanda” Hackworth; devoted father of Sherrie (James) Brown; loving grandfather of Ryan Brown, Tyler (Samantha) Brown, and Devyn (Matt) Oliveros treasured great-grandfather of Maxwell, Daisy, Olivia and Colton; dear brother of Bonnie Robinson and the late Glenn Whittle; Garland is also survived by his special pets Raven and Ju-Ju.
Galen proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force, where he was an airplane mechanic. He married the love of his life, Linda on September 16, 1961. Galen was a dedicated and hard worker, but he still told goofy jokes that would always make people smile. He loved Star-Trek and would watch episodes everyday. He was also a devoted St. Louis sports fan, cheering for Cardinals Baseball and Blues Hockey. Family was important to him, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Galen was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
