Frank Albert Oberle, of Novinger, MO, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026 at the age of 75. Loving husband of Judy Oberle; devoted father of Heidi (Kevin) Barrett; beloved son of the late Daisy and Frank Oberle, Sr.; cherished grandfather of Owen Barrett, Olivia Barrett, and Maggie Barrett; dear brother of Patsy (the late Kenny) Dillon, Sandi (the late Denny) Shine, Sheila (Vernon) House, Pam (Boyd) House, and Mary (Tom) Tiesing; cherished nephew of Donald Thebeau; and survived by a loving circle of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending two years in Vietnam as a machine gunner and helicopter crew chief. On July 16, 1983, he married the love of his life, Judy, and together they shared 43 wonderful years filled with adventure, hard work, and a love of nature.
A talented self-employed photographer and master woodworker, Frank was known for his stunning photography, particularly his photographs of eagles and prairie. He made more than 20 trips to Alaska in pursuit of the perfect eagle shot and had a deep appreciation for the natural world. For more than 30 years, he dedicated himself to prairie restoration, sharing his knowledge with others and helping them learn how to care for the land. He especially enjoyed mentoring the next generation.
Frank was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and a man who gave his all to everything he did. Known for his big personality, his infamous ‘bear hugs,’ and his gift for conversation. He cherished his many friendships and loved being surrounded by family and friends.
Above all, Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His daughter, Heidi, was his pride and joy, and the special bond they shared was one of the greatest blessings of his life.
Frank was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Frank’s memory to Guardian Hills Veterans Healing Center.
