Florence L. Phelps

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Florence L. Phelps, age 90, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away February 2, 2009 in Community Hospital South, Indianapolis. The daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Orr) Butler, Florence was born May 20, 1918 in East St. Louis, Illinois. For 22 years, she worked as a claims examiner with the Finance Center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. Florence was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Indianapolis and Business of Professional Women. Florence is survived by her daughters, Janet F. Harvey of Indiana and Elizabeth A. Toney of New Mexico; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. Besides her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Phelps; brothers, Lawrence and Edward Butler and sister, Margaret Butler.
