Eugene “Gene” Cokley, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera Cokley, his parents, Victor and Susie Cokley, his children, Peggy Cokley and Michael Cokley, his sisters Rosalie and Lois and his brother, Jim.
Gene is survived by his grandson, Rob (Cheryl) Kitchell and their children, Brittney Dunkan, Halie Kitchell, Nick Kitchell and the late Nate Kitchell, and Brittney’s children Rosalie, Elias and Sylvie; his granddaughter Heather Kitchell-Day and her children, Dalton, Victoria, Clayton, and Logan and Victoria’s children, Grayson and Carson; his daughter in-law, Linda Cokley and her children, Nathaniel (Sarah) Cokley; his granddaughter Justine Cokley and Luke Bollinger and their children, Micah, Isaac, Eli, Jacob; and his grandson, Trent (Jackie) Cokley and their son, Ryan. Gene was also survived by his two cherished friends, Peggy Dorris and Rick Edwards.
Gene established Cokley Contractors and was a proud life-long owner. He was a man of great faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake St. Louis. In his free time, Gene enjoyed reading a good book and the newspaper, completing crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family. Gene was a caring man who was undoubtedly generous, even giving the gift of life as an organ donor. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
