Droege, Ernest B. “Ernie”, of Troy, MO, died on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the age of 82. Loving husband of Kay Droege; beloved son of the late Joseph and Anna Droege; devoted father of Laurie (Marvin) Schollman, Patricia (Barte) Slankard, Beverly Droege, and Monica (Daniel) Aschenbrenner; dear step father of Michael (Angie) Wies, Bonnie (Bill) Ache, and Joe Wies; cherished grandfather of Darla Schollman, Ryan Slankard, Marcella Cordell, Alex Schollman, Grace Cordell, Cory Schollman, Savannah Cordell, Chloe Aschenbrenner, and Mitch Aschenbrenner; treasured great-grandfather of Callie and Hunter; and dear brother of Christopher Droege and Catherine Schleeper. He is also survived by many other extended family members and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings, James Droege and Helen Carter; and his step children, David Wies and Holly Wies.
Ernie proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA for over 30 years before retiring early in 1989. Ernie enjoyed reading the Sunday paper, golfing, and going on long drives, and playing golf. He was an outdoorsman who loved camping and traveling with his family. In his lifetime, he and his family were fortunate enough to see 32 of the 50 United States. Ernie will truly be missed by all of his family and friends.
