Ellsworth "Elby" F. Goetges, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the age of 83. Loving husband of 58 years to Margaret Goetges; beloved son of the late Eugene and Grace Goetges; devoted father of Jeff (Kathleeen) Goetges and Jill (Mike) Foust; cherished grandfather of Sarah (Michael) Schieffer, Brian (Sierra) Goetges, Tim Goetges, and Nicholas Foust; dear great grandfather of Amelia Schieffer and Maeva Goetges; uncle, cousin and friend. Elby is preceded in death by his siblings, Oliver (Valra "Vi") Goetges, and Audrey (Arvel) Dingledine.

Elby was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he was a sharpshooter. He had over 40 years of experience as a machinist at Wagner Electric, McDonnell Douglas/Boeing, and GKN, where he eventually retired. During retirement, Elby dedicated his time to volunteering at the St. Joseph Health Center gift shop, watching western movies, completing word search books, and working in the yard.

With a passion for hunting and fishing, he embraced the outdoors. Bird watching brought him joy, and he relished the visits from his grand dogs, along with other furry friends. He also was a member of the Ballast Pits.

Elby cherished family moments and never missed a game with his grandchildren. He attended all activities and even coached his children's sports, often taking on the role of the scorekeeper. A big supporter of Duchesne High School, his alma mater, Elby took pride in watching not only his own children but also his grandchildren attend the school. He was also devout member of Saint Peter Catholic Church. Elby's unwavering love and quiet strength left a lasting impact on those around him, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Memorials may be made in Elby's name to Duchesne High School or Fishes and Loaves.
