Elizabeth Jane Urshan “Libba”

Elizabeth Jane Urshan “Libba” (nee Thrash), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the age of 87. Loving wife of the late Rev. Jonathan Timothy Urshan; beloved daughter of the late Gladys and Maurice Thrash; devoted mother of Jonathan (Tammy) Urshan, and Andrew (Bethany) Urshan; cherished grandmother of John David (Megan) Urshan, Benjamin (Sarah) Urshan, Caleb (Shayla) Urshan, AJ Urshan, Levi Urshan, and Silas Urshan; treasured great-grandmother of Sutton Urshan, Saylor Urshan, Noah Urshan, Abel Urshan, and Callan Urshan. Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her sister, June Fournier; brother, G.S "Wendol" Holcomb; and niece, Debbie Blunt.

Elizabeth was a faithful member of Bethel Pentecostal Church whose life reflected her deep love for the Lord and her dedication to serving others. Her faith in Jesus defined who she was and she was willing to share the gospel with anyone. She faithfully served alongside her husband as a pastor's wife for 19 years in Centralia, Illinois, and for 24 years in St. Peters, Missouri, ministering to countless people through her faith, compassion, and hospitality.

A gifted pianist, Elizabeth began playing the piano at the age of six and received 12 years of classical training, earning a scholarship to Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. Throughout her life, she used her musical talents to glorify God by playing gospel music and hymns in churches and teaching piano lessons. At the age of 82, she recorded a CD of her music, and her songs continue to bless others through YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and her website, www.elizabethurshan.com.

Known as a sweet Southern belle, Elizabeth made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She taught Bible studies, instructed college students in typing, and joyfully opened her home to family, friends, and evangelists, sharing countless meals prepared with love. Her cooking talent ranged from Middle Eastern to Southern comfort food. Even in her later years, she continued cooking for others until her passing.

Elizabeth's legacy of faith, music, encouragement, and service will live on in the many lives she touched. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
