Edward J. Ponce

Edward James Ponce “Eddie”, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Denise Lynn Ponce; devoted father of Christopher Ponce; dear brother of Rosemary and Joe; dear friend of Bob Bircher, Clyde (Mary) Robb, Rich (Donna) Jaromach and Elmer (Maryann) Wucher; Edward is also survived by his fur-baby, Casper, many nieces, nephews and cousins; he is preceded in death by his siblings, Tillie, Annette, Pete and mother-in-law, Vicki Johnson.

It is with great sadness that after an 8-year battle with Pulminary Fibrosis, we announce the passing of Eddie, at age 78. He died on April 12, 2025, in St. Peter's MO. Born on January 9, 1947, in Granite City, IL to Carl & Rose Ponce. He was a devoted husband, dad and dog-dad. He grew up in Venice, IL and graduated High School in 1964. He then attended Ranken Tech College in St. Louis where he received his diploma to be an electrician. After finishing Ranken, he served 2 years in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He returned home and started working at AO Smith in Granite City. In 1981 he started working at McDonnell Doughlas (now Boeing) until he retired in 2012. It was at Boeing where he made lasting friendships. In 1989, he married Denise Johnson in Las Vegas, NV. They shared over 35 years of marriage.

Before his health declined he liked to play softball with his work friends. He was a big sports enthusiast and Cardinals baseball fan. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family. He is no longer suffering and in the arms of God. "A big part of us went with you the day God called you home, A million times we needed you, a million times we cried. If love could only have saved you, you would have never died. The lord be with you and may you rest in peace"

Eddie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
