Edward Lee Downing, III

Edward Lee Downing III, dedicated husband, father, grandfather (PaPa) and friend passed away on Friday March 27, 2026 in Plano, Texas.

Ed was born to Edward L. Downing, Jr. and Dorothy Bagby (nee Grace) on March 5, 1961. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1979. Before attending Sanford Brown Business College and Columbia College. He then started his 44 year career in the Computer Technology industry as a technician and then sales.

Through the years Ed enjoyed playing golf, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He loved visiting Texas, playing golf, woodworking, playing cards, traveling, and meeting new friends.

Being a Grandpa came naturally to him. He loved teaching the grandkids how to fish. He enjoyed going to their hockey games and dance recitals. He was also a diehard fan of Notre Dame Football, St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues.

He is survived by his wife, Dana (nee Wion), married for 44 years; children Heather (nee Downing) McCormack (Doug) and Caitlin Downing (Aly); grandchildren, Rileigh, Noah and Paige McCormack, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his pets, Zelda and Watson.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Dorothy; his dad, Edward Downing; his sister Donna (nee Downing) Nimmo and his beloved pets.

Everyone who met Ed knew that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person who loved his family and friends very much.
