Dwain Virgil Schmuck

April 26, 1938 — February 5, 2026

St. Charles, Missouri

Dwain Virgil Schmuck of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late Joyce Schmuck; cherished son of the late Woodrow and Elvie Schmuck; devoted father of Barbara (Garry) Rosemann, Richard (Karen) Schmuck, the late Sandra Schmuck, and the late Michael (Debbie) Schmuck; loving grandfather of Stacy (Jake) Bauer, Ashley (Adam) Pickett, Kevin (Robyn) Rosemann, Erin Schmuck, Sarah (Joseph) Sweeney, Carrie (the late Craig) Snarzyk, Samantha (Matthew) Van Straten, and Richard (Madelyn) Schmuck; dear brother of Joan (Paul) Miller, June (Newt) Webb, the late Dorothy (Eugene) Kick, Joyce (the late Thomas) Zykan; and the late James Schmuck; treasured great-grandfather of eighteen; precious brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. Dwain was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was the heart of the Schmuck family — the kind of heart that didn’t just beat, but worked. He came from nothing and built everything with his own two hands. Arrow Boring wasn’t just a company; it was proof of who he was. Over fifty years of early mornings, calloused hands, stubborn determination, and a belief that if you wanted something, you earned it.

He was gruff, stubborn, and unapologetically himself — the kind of man who didn’t sugarcoat life because life didn’t sugarcoat him. “Work for what you want” wasn’t just a motto; it was the way he lived, the way he taught, the way he loved.

And at the center of it all was Joyce.

He loved his wife with a devotion that never faded. Even after she was gone, she was still everywhere — in his stories, his habits, the way he carried himself. He lived as if she were still right there beside him, because in his heart, she was. His love for her was unconditional, unwavering, and everlasting.

He built a family the same way he built his life — from the ground up, strong and steady. What he leaves behind isn’t just a legacy of work, but a legacy of values: resilience, loyalty, grit, and love that doesn’t quit.

The heart of the family may have stopped beating, but it didn’t disappear. It lives on in every story told, every lesson passed down, every ounce of strength this family carries forward.

He worked for everything he had — and what he built will never be lost.

Memorials may be made in Dwain's name to the American Diabetes Association, the American Kidney Foundation, or the American Heart Association.
