Douglas Gene Storie

Douglas Gene Storie, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 47 years to the late Donna Jean Storie (nee Schnarre); cherished son of the late Elmo and Opal Storie; devoted father of Christine (Gary) Roberts, Jennifer (Billy Martin) Storie and Jason (Joanna) Storie; loving grandfather of Austin Martin, Emily Martin, Camryn (Drew) Kiernan and Britney Bartels; treasured great-grandfather of Eleanor Storie; dear brother of the late Donald Storie.

Douglas proudly and honorably served in the Army National Guard.

Douglas worked for 33 years with the Missouri State Highway Patrol in commercial vehicle enforcement and proudly served his country on active duty during Desert Storm. A man who loved the outdoors, Douglas had a green thumb, enjoyed gardening, farming, and hunting. He found joy in bluegrass music, playing both the fiddle and banjo, and was rarely without a loyal dog by his side.

Faith was central to Douglas’s life—he was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles for over 50 years and spent time daily in his devotionals and scripture reading. He adored his children and grandchildren, sharing with them his gift for storytelling, his quick wit, and his selfless spirit. His legacy of service continued even after his passing, as he chose to donate his body to Saint Louis University to further medical research following the care he received during and after his cancer diagnosis.

Memorials may be made in Douglas's name to First Baptist of St. Charles.
