Dorthella “Dot” Hawley (nee Brown), of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at the age of 94. Loving wife of the late Joe W. Hawley; beloved daughter of the late Jake Brown and the late Minnie Belle Brown Pruitt; devoted mother of Garry Lester (Sharon) Hutchison, Pamela (Bob) White, John Randall Hawley, and Carol (Brett) Rough; proud grandmother of Dawn Hutchison, Matt (Eliana) Hutchison, Melissa (John) Lamb, Melanie (Greg) Schowe, Alicia (Scott) Joiner, Jonathan Hawley, Lauren Rough, Allison (Brad) Chapman, McKenzie Rough, and Bailey Rough; treasured great-grandmother of Dakota Geisler, Blake Geisler, Dawson Geisler, Dylon Delgado, Garrett Hutchison, Braden Lamb, Nora Schowe, and Carter Hawley; and dear sister of the late Melba Cox, the late Rosemary Piper, and the late Melvin Brown.
In addition to her husband, parents, and siblings, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Lonnie Hutchison.
Dot was a member at First General Baptist Church in St. Charles, Missouri. She was very proud to be a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. She was a seamstress and a fantastic cook who loved having her family together for dinner. Dot enjoyed fishing, tending to her vegetable garden, and going to church. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family. She will be remembered for being a very tough lady who was always friendly and outgoing. Dot was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
