Dorothy Jean Ward

Dorothy Jean Sharp Ward, 79, of Foristell, Missouri, peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on July 27, 2026. Dorothy was born on October 8, 1946, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to the late Clem and Maxine Lenior Tate. She was the fifth of fifteen children and was raised in a large, loving family. She attended Manassas High School in Memphis, Tennessee.

After high school, Dorothy met Clayton Sharp, and the two were united in holy matrimony on July 23, 1966. Their union was blessed with seven children. In 1968, the family relocated from Memphis, Tennessee, to East St. Louis, Illinois, where Dorothy attended Southwestern Illinois College. Later, they made their home in Wright City, Missouri, where Dorothy fulfilled her dream of owning and operating (Dorothy’s Restaurant). She later became a dedicated employee of Charleswood Furniture, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.

Dorothy accepted Christ at a young age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. In 2002, she became a devoted member of Grace Gospel Temple, where she faithfully served and participated in various church ministries and activities.

Dorothy’s life was centered on faith, family, and love. She had a passion for gardening and cooking and delighted in trying new recipes she discovered on YouTube. She also enjoyed watching Dr. Pimple Popper, Mukbang videos and hosting cookout. In recent years, Dorothy discovered a love for camping and eagerly anticipated the family’s camping trip, reflecting the joy she found in creating lasting memories with those she loved.
