Dorothy Jane Thurston (nee Dye), of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of 59 years to Donald “Pete” Thurston; cherished daughter of the late Omer and Nellie Dye; devoted mother of Blenda (Gary) Godman, Sheila (Chris) Clermont, and Peggy (the late Joseph) Stiens; step-mother of the late Floyd "Snookie" (Jan) Wood; loving grandmother of Cory (Kassi) Clermont, Amie (Joel) Saindon, Josie (Ty) Hutchcroft, Jacob Stiens, Jennifer (Jamie) Rhodes, & Becky (John) Rizzo, treasured great-grandmother of Cooper Clermont; dear sister of JR Dye, Lee (Jodel) Dye, the late Herbert Dye, the late James Dye, and the late Margaret Riley.
Dorothy was born in Shelbyville, Missouri and lived in many places during her marriage to Pete before they finally resided in St. Charles, Missouri, for the past 30 years. She loved spending her days tending to her home and family. She was a great cook, baker, gardener and loved to can her vegetables. She also loved to gamble and go for long car rides enjoying the scenery.
She took great pride in her grandchildren. Dorothy always attended as many games and functions she was able. Her wish was to live long enough to see the birth of a great-grandchild-Cooper was born January 2019.
Dorothy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
