Dorothy L. "Penny" Lorton

Dorothy L. “Penny” Lorton (nee Gehrke), of Wentzville, MO, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Thomas W. Lorton; cherished daughter of the late Samuel D. and Priscella A. Gehrke. Devoted mother of Dena (John) Manor and Deedra (Michael) Morgan; loving grandmother of Michael Delaney, Samantha Jaggie, Kevin Manor, Andrew (Shelly) Jaggie, Brittany (Isaac McGee) Manor, and Jacob Krause; step-grandmother of Dustin (Sherrie) Hughes and Lizz (Sean) Dell; treasured great-grandmother of Kaitlynn, Anna, Sylis, Cale, Kynlee, Adilyn, Waylon, Carrera and Cody; best friend, Phyllis Sloan; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Preceded in death by brother, Howard Gehrke; two sisters, Beverly Mattingly, and Robin Gehrke Wallace.

Penny was a member of the Freewill Baptist church in O'Fallon, MO and was a devote Christian. She found immense joy in being a part of the Tuesday night prayer and bible study group. Penny enjoyed dancing, making jewelry, and playing bingo. She also loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid Cardinals baseball fan. With an outgoing and joyful nature, Penny embraced life and cherished spending time with her family and friends. Penny was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
