Dorothy Hertenstein

Dorothy Jane Hertenstein (nee Schlanker), on July 31 at the age of 100. Soulmate of the late Glenn Hertenstein, beloved mother of Rod and Bryan Hertenstein and their wives, Judy and Louise; dear sister of the late Evelyn Brockfeld; loving grandmother of Paul, Jake, and Ross Hertenstein, and Laura Mignerone; and great grandmother to Gabe Mignerone. A very special aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Dorothy was seldom idle, being a creative homemaker, consummate cook, and a consistent part time employee of Famous Barr for 22 years. She was a deep admirer of God’s natural creation, both flora and fauna, and created amazing gardens in several homes. In later years, Dorothy and Glenn became serious travelers, visiting all 50 states, 28 national parks, and 45 countries. She was raised a Lutheran, became Presbyterian, and then was an active member of several United Church of Christ congregations.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dorothy's name to Every Child’s Hope Children's Home, 8240 St. Charles Rock Road St. Louis, MO 63114.
