Dorothy Louise Adams

September 8, 1935 — April 6, 2026

O'Fallon, Missouri

Dorothy Louise Adams, a cancer survivor, born in St Louis, MO September 18, 1935, at the age of ninety, has passed away in O'Fallon, MO, on April 6, 2026.

She is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 54 years, George V. Adams, and her eldest son Robert Adams. Surviving family members are her son Richard Adams (Sharon Elizabeth) of Defiance, MO, daughter Lori Vaughan (David) of Springfield, MO, Grandchildren: George C. Adams of Troy, MO, Wendy Richardson (Jason) of Conway, NH, Michael Vaughan (Chelsea) Springfield, MO, John Vaughan (Ashley) Nixa, MO, Amanda Amen St. Joseph, MO, Lucas Adams; seven Great Grandchildren, sister Laraine Butson (St. Charles, MO), nieces Francis Marimonti (John) West Lebanon, NH, Debra Butson (St. Charles, MO) and Susan Tucker (O'Fallon, MO).

Dorothy spent the early years of her marriage to George raising her family. As their children were of later school age, she herself went to UMS and graduated with a teaching degree.

She spent 26 years teaching first, third and fifth grade at Coverdell Elementary School until she retired in 1996.

She was highly creative; a gift reflected in her quilt-making and many handcrafted projects.

She spent countless joyful hours in her craft room, creating alongside her great-grandchildren and delighted in the time they shared together. She and George also treasured their years of vacationing in Bennett Springs, Missouri, where they made lasting memories.

Dorothy volunteered at First Baptist Church of O'Fallon. She created many centerpieces for church functions. She was always willing to lend a hand with those in need: writing shut-ins, driving others when they could not, and serving meals at many of their luncheons. She loved her family. Dorothy will be missed by her friends and family.

Services are private at the request of the family. She will be interned at Lake Charles Park Cemetery, 7775 Saint Charles Rock Road, St Louis, MO 63114 - where she will join her husband, George V., and her parents. May she rest in peace.
