Donna M. Komadina

Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on Wednesday, April 25, 2007. She died peacefully at home after succumbing to her 10 year battle with cancer and she was surrounded by the love of her family. She was 60 years old. Donna’s love, leadership, and example will be missed by all who were touched by her life. As a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, friend, and business associate, she made a profound difference in the lives of those who knew her. In 1984, after 10 years of elementary teaching, Donna took a brave step to begin a new company, DTS with her husband Tom. She was a pioneer when third party logistics was in its infancy. She helped shape an industry where few women had ventured. The success of the DTS Companies is the direct result of her special business and people skills, her hard work, and her professionalism. Business contacts and customers soon became friends when surrounded by Donna’s selfless personality and boundless energy. She was a mentor to those who entered the field and helped so many to learn the business she loved. Donna never put herself first. She always remembered names, birthdays and important dates, and genuinely cared about what was happening in your life. She was quick to offer a positive thought, a word of encouragement, or a compliment. She was a willing volunteer when there was a project that needed to be done for business, professional organizations, or a charitable cause. She is preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law Joseph Sr. and Anna M. (nee: McDonald) Komadina. Donna is survived by her husband, Tom Komadina, Sr. and her four sons Tom Jr. (Sandra), Mike (Sandy), Paul (Peggy) and Matt, and eleven grandchildren. Also surviving are her parents Henry and Anna Mae (Maizie) Dussold , sisters Doreen (Tom) Gilliam, Judy (John) Copenhaver, Jan Steinhoff, Kathy (Larry) Schlueter, Marianne Hawkins, Terri (Jeff) Barr, and brothers, Jerry Dussold, Rob Dussold, and Steve (Tina) Dussold, brothers and sisters-in law, Joe Komadina, Maryann (Larry) Waltermann, Pat (Tom)Aquisto, and Kathy (Ron) Chostner. She was a dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
