Donald Christopher Burkhart

June 17, 1940 — March 20, 2026

St. Charles, Missouri

Donald Christopher Burkhart, age 85, of St. Charles, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 20, 2026. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded his family, and is now commended to the mercy of God with the hope of the Resurrection promised through Jesus Christ.

Donald was born on June 17, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Edward and Elsie Burkhart. A man of deep faith and lifelong service to the Church, Donald dedicated 45 years as an educator within the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Even in retirement, his commitment to Christian charity continued through his devoted service with the St. Cletus Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, where he lived out Christ’s call to serve the poor and those in need.

Donald’s faith was most clearly expressed through his love for his family and his steadfast presence in their lives. He took great joy in supporting his grandchildren, especially as a proud spectator at their sporting events. His life reflected humility, generosity, and a quiet strength rooted in faith.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Cristina; his children Donna Dallas (Jim), Chris Burkhart (Lori), Lisa Simon (Jim), Cristina Armour (Kevin), and Linda Burkhart; his cherished grandchildren Christopher, Alex, Jennifer, Tommy, Jack, Libby, Jessica, Emma, Henry, and AJ; his great-granddaughter, Elsie; and his brothers Jim and Tom Burkhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Joan Weissert; and his brothers Edward, Jack, and Robert Burkhart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 27, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cletus Catholic Church. Visitation will take place at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m., with prayers offered for the repose of his soul.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Cletus Parish and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, honoring Donald’s lifelong dedication to faith, service, and love of neighbor.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
