Donald James Hoelting, of Florissant, MO, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Jean Hoelting; cherished son of the late William and Adele Hoelting. Devoted father of Linda (Jeff) Webb, Sue (the late Dale) McFarland, Jim (Lori) Hoelting, and Mike (Karen) Hoelting; loving grandfather of Jennifer Dickhans, Lauren Dickhans, Katie (Travis McGrath) McFarland, Kevin (Jessica) McFarland, Leah Viets, Erin (Trey) Faver, Amy (Craig) Lackey, Michael Hoelting, and Johnny (Brittney) Hoelting; treasured great-grandfather of Brenden Neistat, Julia Meyr, Collin and Camden Viets, Ian, Abigail, and Owen Faver, Alice, Emma, and Will Lackey, and Lydia Hoelting. He is survived by his cousin Saundra (Alex) Szczuka, brother-in-law Walter (Judy) Kern, sister-in-law Sharon Ming, and many nieces and nephews. Don also leaves many dear friends. Preceded in death by his grandmother, Sadie Steffan, who was like a second mother to him.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Army. His passions included tending to his lawn, enjoying the outdoors, especially at Hawk Point, and navigating the waters while boating on both rivers and lakes. Don found joy in the rhythms of country music his entire life! Don and Jean enjoyed square dancing, many trips to Lake of the Ozarks, and ocean cruises. His devotion to his wife, his partner of 67 years, knew no bounds, as she remained the love of his life. Faith held a profound place in his heart. Don's penchant for sweets, especially donuts and chocolate chip cookies, plus a good cup of coffee, was undeniable. He indulged his love of cars, RC planes, and boats by taking meticulous care of all his toys. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching all of their games. Throughout his career, Don exemplified diligence and commitment, serving for the majority of his professional life at McDonnell Douglas. Don was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Don's name to Alzheimer's Association or Missouri Veterans Home.
