Dennis R. Haislip

Dennis R. “Denny” “Slips” Haislip lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Cedarhurst Senior Living in St. Charles, MO, at the age of 83.

He was born on June 22, 1939 to the late Elroy and Adell Haislip in St. Paul, MO. Married the love of his life, Janet (Moseler) Haislip in 1958. Loving father of Keith (Nancy) Haislip and Kent (Dee Dee) Haislip. Proud grandfather of Kyle (Amanda) Haislip, Cody (Taylor) Haislip, Courtney Haislip, Laura Lenz and Sarah Lenz. Loving great-grandfather of Wyatt, Talen and Duke. He is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including special and faithful friend, Clyde Schulte. In addition to his parents, Denny was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley ad Ollie Hibbeler.

He was a longtime member of St. Cletus Catholic Church.

Denny was a meat cutter for Schnuck’s for 25 years before his retirement in 2002.

Denny coached his son’s Little League Baseball Team in the St. Charles Jr. Baseball Association and was named Umpire of the Year in 1978. He played Baseball and Basketball while attending Assumption High School in O’Fallon, MO and after graduation continued playing Baseball for St. Paul, O’Fallon and St. Peters in the East MO Baseball Association and was inducted into the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame for baseball in 2018.

Denny was an avid Duck Hunter, starting the sport with his father when he was young. He also enjoyed Trap Shooting and won a Gold Medal in the St. Charles County Golden Games in 2006.

Denny was a former member of the Ballast Pits club, Ducks Unlimited and NRA.

He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sports activities.

Denny was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
