Debra June McDaniel

February 8, 1955 — June 17, 2025

O'Fallon, Missouri

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debra June McDaniel, who departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the age of 70. Debbie was the cherished daughter of Betty (Lindsay) McDaniel and the late Jack W. McDaniel; dear sister of Dennis (Gale) McDaniel, Dena (Mike) Meyer, Dondi (Bill) Webb and Jack Devin (Beth) McDaniel.

Born on February 8, 1955, in Murphysboro, Illinois, Debbie graduated from Murphysboro Township High School and spent over 30 years as a Customer Service Representative for Western Union. She retired after working as an Administrative Assistant from Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in 2019.

Debbie was a long-time resident of Granite City, Illinois and had a kind and caring heart. Whether it was volunteering at church, where she led a youth group for many years, sitting with critically ill patients, or helping take care of her aging parents. She was always there to help her family through the good times and the bad. Her passion, though, was her numerous nieces and nephews. Known as “Favorite Aunt Debbie”, she would frequently host sleepovers, New Years parties, swim parties, Halloween parties, and her favorite annual Easter egg hunt. Debbie would save dollar bills, quarters, dimes, and nickels throughout the year for this event, where each child would get 25 to 30 money filled eggs.

She loved reading, spending time in her pool, pampering her dog, Spanky, and singing in church. Debbie’s greatest attribute was her soothing, alto voice, which inspired many at church, weddings, and various other events.

Debbie’s life, love, and laughter touched the lives of many, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral arrangements are currently pending and will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
