Dawn Marie Smith (nee Chenault), of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, at the age of 56. Beloved wife of Glenn Smith; cherished daughter of Ron and Gloria Chenault; devoted mother of Andrew (Shannon) Smith, Meagan (Colten) Clouse, and Morgan Smith; loving grandmother of Charlotte Clouse; dear sister of Marc (Amy) Chenault.
Dawn was a devoted mother and took immense pride in her family. A paralegal by profession, she was highly intelligent, fiercely independent, and worked incredibly hard to build a life she was proud of. Dawn met Glenn on a blind date in the fall of 1991, and the two were married in March of 1993. In their early years together, they embraced adventure—traveling often and enjoying six memorable cruises before starting their family. A lifelong Cardinals fan, Dawn also loved card games, board games, and long, meaningful conversations. She was also a loving and devoted dog owner who cherished her many canine companions over the years—Sandy, Sassy, Sam, Molly, and Aspen—who were truly part of her family. She was the kind of person who made things happen behind the scenes—the steady presence, the quiet problem-solver, the rock so many people leaned on. A true fighter, Dawn never gave up, no matter the challenge, and faced life with strength and determination. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Memorials may be made in Dawn's name to the Humane Society of O’Fallon.
In the spirit of celebrating and honoring Dawn's life, we ask friends and family to wear bright colors to her visitation on Friday.
