David Edward Ott, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of JoAnn Ott; cherished son of the late Edward and Adele Ott; devoted father of Greg Ott, Cindy (the late Philip) Eberle, Steve (Terri) Ott, Julie (Lee) Hardy; loving grandfather of Andrea (Mason Pelt) Eberle, David (Tammy) Eberle, Katie (Nick Jasinski) Eberle, Josh Eberle, Jenny (Caleb) Freeman, Chrissy (Andy) Freeman, Adler Hardy and Anson Hardy; great-grandfather of Mya, Grace, Addilyn, Colton and Henry; dear brother of Richard (Jane) Ott and Lenore (Whitey) Richardson; David is also survived by a host of nieces, one nephew and other relatives and friends.
David was married to the love of his life, JoAnn, for 68 wonderful years. Together, they shared a deep joy in dancing, traveling, playing Bridge, watching football, cheering on the Cardinals, and, most of all, spending time with family. They had a love for the arts, often attending the symphony and enjoying performances at the Repertory Theatre. He was devoted to God and was a founding member of the Lutheran Church of the Living Christ, in 1976, where he sang in the choir and served on the church counsel. He also was involved with a sharing group through their church, which he really loved and cherished.
David was a man who took charge, yet he carried himself with a gentle, soft-spoken nature. He was loving, kind, and exceptionally intelligent. He had a lifelong passion for space and pursued it as an aeronautical engineer. Over a remarkable 42-year career with Boeing, he traveled the world as an engineer, contributing his expertise and dedication.
He was deeply involved in his community, serving on his HOA board, participating in church council, and contributing his time to SAGES. He also remained closely connected to his fraternity, TKE, helping organize reunions and maintaining lifelong friendships.
David was incredibly handy and could fix just about anything. He was always tinkering, working on projects, repairing things around the house, and maintaining an immaculate yard. He took pride in everything he did.
A devoted Cardinals fan, David also stood out for his generosity and the deep love he had for his wife, which was evident to all who knew him.
David was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
