David J. Monahan, of Lake Saint Louis, MO, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Marleen Monahan; cherished son of the late David F. Monahan and the late Mae Bishop; devoted father of Megan Monahan and Ryan (Katie) Monahan; loving grandfather of Jacob; dear brother of Peggy (Dave) Johnson, Donald (Karen) Wilhelm, Bob (Ellen) Wilhelm, and Linda (Gary) Culp, and preceded in death by his brother Tommy Wilhelm.
David proudly served over 35 years with the Lake St. Louis Fire Protection District as a volunteer firefighter, captain, safety officer, and member of the Board of Directors. David also was an active Scout leader for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scout Troop 972.
A graduate of Christian Brothers College High School, Class of 1962, David went on to earn his degree from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
A lifelong entrepreneur, David was very active in the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce, where he enjoyed mentoring others and supporting local businesses. An avid golfer, he played regularly at Bogey Hills Country Club and in the Lake St. Louis Community Association Men’s League, where he built life-long friendships on and off the course.
David was known for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Rarely did he meet a stranger — he could always find a connection, whether through family, friends, or a shared love of the St. Louis community. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, living out his values through service and fellowship.
