Dale E. Smith

Dale E. Smith, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the age of 88. Loving husband of Carol Smith; beloved son of the late Margaret and George Smith; devoted father of Janice (Brian) Harrison, Steven Smith, and Stacia (Chris) Gwaltney; cherished grandfather of Shannon (Jason) Bromley, Kathryn "Nicki" (Daniel) Seddon, Ian Smith, Caroline Smith, Madalyn Gwaltney, Katelyn Gwaltney, and Allen Gwaltney; treasured great-grandfather of Jacqueline Bromley, Josephine Bromley, and Rhett Seddon; dear brother of Don (Fran Clem) Smith. Dale is also preceded in death by his son, Dale Smith Jr. 

Dale shared 68 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carol. They cherished their time together, enjoying fishing, dining out, and caring for their family. He spent over 30 years as a dedicated ironworker, contributing to the construction of landmarks like the Gateway Arch and the old Busch Stadium. Known for his skill with his hands, Dale was always ready to take on any project, helping fix whatever his family or friends needed. He could repair just about anything and was known for his generosity in helping others. Dale had a great sense of humor, told captivating stories, enjoyed golfing, and had a love for thrifting and gardening. A man who never sat idle, he was always keeping himself busy. Dale especially loved Christmas, with a special fondness for Christmas trees. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
