Connie “Jo” Vance, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at the age of 84. Beloved partner of 34 years to the late Royce Schierding; cherished daughter of the late Sherman and Roberta Vance; devoted mother of Lydia (Scott) Musick and Amanda Allison Lila; stepmother of Elizabeth (Robert) Conaway; loving grandmother of Caleb Birkes, Ethan Birkes, and Jake Phillips; treasured great-grandmother of Levi Birkes; dear sister of Robert (Diana) Vance, William (Pamela) Vance, Jeffery (Laurie) Vance, the late Bonnie (Francis) Allen, the late Judy (survived by Kevin) Rund, the late Sherman Dale Vance and the late Michael Dean Vance; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
Jo shared 34 wonderful years with her beloved partner, Royce, and treasured the many adventures they experienced together through their travels. She had a passion for music and loved gathering with friends to sing and play guitar. Jo's home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of something delicious, as she delighted in hosting family and friends for dinners, desserts, and games. An incredible cook and baker, she expressed her love through hospitality and generosity.
Vibrant, outgoing, and fiercely independent, Jo was the perfect blend of sassy and classy. She was known for her welcoming spirit, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room. Full of energy, she embraced life wholeheartedly and was always on the move, staying active and engaged in the things she loved.
Jo's confidence and charisma were evident from a young age. She was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen in both high school and college, qualities that reflected her natural ability to connect with others and bring joy wherever she went. Growing up on a farm instilled in her a strong work ethic that remained with her throughout her life, demonstrated by her highly successful and acclaimed career as an insurance agent.
She cherished her close circle of friends and treasured the time they spent together. Jo also took great pride in caring for her garden and found simple joy in watching the generations of birds she fed off her back deck.
Jo was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her warmth, laughter, kindness, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
