Christine Louise Romans (nee VanOver), of Wentzville, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the age of 66. Beloved wife of the late Jim Romans, Sr.; cherished daughter of the late Patricia Matkin and Dennis VanOver; devoted mother of Jim Romans, Jr., Danny Romans, and Myndi Christine (Dan) McGarrigle; loving grandmother of Landon Feith, Kassidi (Frank) Feith, Ryelee McGarrigle, Maddy McGarrigle, and Jozy McGarrigle; dear sister of Jeff VanOver; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, cherished cousin and friend to many.
Chris devoted 38 years of faithful service as the food service supervisor at Immanuel Lutheran School, where she became a beloved presence and was affectionately known as “Mama Romans” by generations of children. Her warm smile, caring heart, and steady dedication left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Chris had a remarkable way of making people feel seen and cared for, whether through a kind word, a comforting meal, or a thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about her generous spirit.
Family was truly the cornerstone of Chris' life. She was always there for those she loved, from chauffeuring her children and grandchildren in “Mom’s taxi” to never missing a sporting event, performance, or activity—well into their adult years. That same attentiveness and devotion shaped the close, loving bond shared by her family, a legacy she passed down with pride. Chris' giving nature extended far beyond her own household, as she faithfully adopted a family each year during the holidays and poured her creativity into sewing personalized gifts, especially blankets, as heartfelt expressions of love. She delighted in shopping for good deals, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and attending their games, enjoying a lively game of bingo with friends, and savoring time spent together. Chris was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Memorials may be made in Christine 's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
