Chris Johnson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher "Chris" R. Johnson. Chris is survived by his wife, Paula; his stepchildren, Joe (Jen) and Julie (Dave); his grandchildren, Ava, Aengus, Oliver, and Laurel; and his brother, Barry (Cathy), along with his nephew and niece Geoff (Ashlie) Johnson, Courtney ( Derek) Kocis, great nieces and nephews Olivia, Chloe, Connor, Jack and Savannah.

Born in Chicago and raised in Kirkwood and Des Peres, Chris graduated from Kirkwood High School before earning degrees from Missouri State University and an MBA from Webster University. Following a career in inventory management in Illinois and California, he returned to St. Louis, where he spent many years in the floral industry and working at Walter Knoll florist. He found great joy in delivering flowers and seeing the happiness they brought to others.

An avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Blues, He loved music; especially The Greatful Dead and The Band. Chris also had a deep love for nature and sunshine, the beach was his favorite place. He cherished vacations spent on the Gulf Coast, Sanibel/Captiva Islands, and the Florida Keys, where he always rented a convertible to enjoy the sunshine. Known affectionately as "Googs" by his family—a nickname originating from a nephew’s childhood pronunciation—he will be remembered for his warmth and spirit. Loved by many and will be missed dearly.
