Charlsie Louise Floyd, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 81. Cherished daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Floyd; dear sister of the late Kenneth Floyd.
Charlsie earned her BA in Political Science and Economics from Texas Women's University in 1965. She had a distinguished career with the Red Cross, where she served in Vietnam, worked closely with Elizabeth Dole, the president of the Red Cross, and traveled to China and Russia. Charlsie held the position of Director of Disaster Services, providing crucial support during Hurricane Andrew, the floods in Appalachia, and the 1993 floods in the Bi-State Area. She was also actively involved with Youth Services at the Red Cross. Beyond her work with the Red Cross, Charlsie was a loaned executive to the United Way and served Lindenwood University in various roles, including Director of Alumni Development, Institutional Advancement, and Community Relations Liaison. She was a dedicated member of the St. Charles City Chamber of Commerce, the St. Charles Tourism Board, and P.E.O.
A passionate world traveler, Charlsie was particularly fond of New England and enjoyed many trips with her mother, Bertha, and continued her journeys after Bertha's passing. Charlsie was a cherished friend, fiercely independent, and deeply devoted to others, especially her mother. Charlsie established a scholarship at Texas Women’s in honor of her mother. Charlsie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Charlsie's name to Texas Women's University and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
