Cecil D. Ashabranner
July 28, 1934 - June 1, 2025
Saint Peters, Missouri
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Cecil D. Ashabranner of Saint Peters, Missouri on June 1, 2025, at the age of ninety. His love, patience, guidance and kindness will be greatly missed.
Cecil was born July 28, 1934, on a farm outside of Blytheville, Arkansas. He was the first member of his family to graduate high school or college. After receiving an electrical engineering degree from the University of Arkansas in 1958, he was drafted into the United States Army.
While serving at Fort McNair, Cecil met and fell in love with Barbara Appleman, who was also in the Army. They wed November 12, 1960, and were married sixty-four years at Barbara's passing this past March.
The young family moved frequently in the Sixties as Cecil pursued professional opportunities. They settled in Saint Peters when Cecil became a software engineer with McDonnell Douglas in 1969.
Cecil was fascinated with new technologies, especially regarding computers. He loved classical music, and country artists like Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell and Johnny Cash.
Cecil is survived by his children David, Becky, Glen (Wendy), and Rick (Irene), and his grandchildren Brendan (Emma), Megan, Corey, Anna, Kaden and Austin, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Cecil is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his son, Gary, his parents, Arthur and Lou Anna (Powell) Ashabranner, his brothers Glen and Charles (Ruth), and his sisters Geneva Reese (Edward), Hazel Riggs (Edison), and Helen Brown (Ray).
Memorials may be made in Cecil's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
