Catherine Ann O'Gara

Catherine Ann O'Gara, of Defiance, MO, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the age of 63. Beloved partner of David Shaiper; cherished daughter of the late Hugh and Charlotte O’Gara; dear sister of Patrick (the late Patty) O'Gara, Hugh (Barb) O'Gara, Jr., Joseph (Karen) O'Gara, and Brett (Brenda) O'Gara; loving aunt to 10 nieces and nephews. Catherine is preceded in death by her sister, Karen O'Gara.

Cathy lived life with a joyful spirit and a deep appreciation for the simple things that brought her happiness. She had a special love for animals, especially her beloved dogs, and found great joy in spending time outdoors, whether she was hunting, shooting fireworks, or fishing at Duck Creek or Rock Bridge. She loved spending weekends at the family farm in Herman, Missouri. Her faith in God and devotion to her family were at the heart of who she was, and she took particular pride in doting on her nieces and nephews. Full of energy and warmth, Cathy had an easy laugh and a laid-back nature that made her a pleasure to be around. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
