Carol Snyder, beloved wife and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home on August 8, 2024, following a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with Guillain-Barré syndrome. Born on April 19, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the cherished daughter of Bernard B. and Thelma D. (Huning) Land.
A proud graduate of Beaumont High School, class of 1962, Carol pursued her studies at the University of Missouri before embarking on a distinguished career. She initially joined Frigidaire, where she made a significant impact until the company was sold. Carol then brought her talents to GMAC/MIC, the finance and insurance division of General Motors. It was here that she met the love of her life, Harold, when he was transferred to St. Louis. The couple enjoyed a beautiful life together, they married in December 1978 and retired on the same day in 1996.
Carol was a passionate traveler, with a deep love for exploring the world. Their adventures took her and Harold to numerous countries, and she particularly enjoyed cruising the seas. In the early years of her marriage to Harold, she developed a love for motorcycle travel and together they traveled across the United States, with a sense of freedom and adventure.
Carol is survived by her husband, Harold Snyder, her step-daughter, Julie Ann McDuffie; her grandchildren, Kourtni Bymaster, Stacy Bymaster and Nicole Alleson; her great-granddaughter, Lilly Alleson; Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Thelma Land; and her step-daughters, Melissa Joe Snyder and Robin Lynn Bymaster.
Though Carol was an only child, she was deeply connected to her extended family. She leaves behind cousins and their families in California and Colorado, as well as seven beloved step-siblings and their families, who are spread across Indiana, Florida, and Oklahoma.
Carol’s spirit of adventure, love for life, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her will be deeply missed.
Memorials may be made in Carolyn's name to Gentiva Hospice.
