Carole Ann Towey, RN

Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Carole Ann Towey, (nee Heil), was born on September 14, 1935, in St. Louis and departed this life on February 15, 2026.

She was the devoted wife of 64 years to the late Martin G. Towey. She was preceded in death by her beloved youngest daughter, Mary Christine; her parents, Justin and Gertrude (Gaasch) Heil; her parents-in-law, Martin and Mary (Pollard) Towey; and her sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Ginger and Judith (Judy) Meyer.

Carole was the loving mother of Anne Toenjes, Mark (Nancy), Thomas (Ann Marie), and Barbara Range. She was a treasured grandmother to Matthew (Alexandra) Toenjes, Amy (David) Murray, Michael (Michelle) Towey, Patrick Towey, Christopher (Tara) Towey, Thomas (Kathryn) Towey, Jr., Kelsey Towey, James Range and Jonathon Range. She was a cherished Great-Nana to Colin, Hailey, Samantha, MacKenzie, Luke, Kathryn, Benjamin, Margaret, Andrew and Martin. She was also a loving aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Carole graduated from DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in 1956, and she later went on to earn her BSN from St. Louis University. She was a well-respected nurse in the Hazelwood School District, where she cared for students for 23 years and worked alongside her dear friend, Patricia Grosch.

Family was the center of Carole’s life, followed closely by her deep devotion to her Catholic faith. She became especially involved in parish life at St. Anthony Church and later at St. Paul Catholic Church, where she gave generously of her time and heart.

Carole loved her life at the Lake of the Ozarks, where family and friends were always welcome. Many a grandchild learned to waterski or was joyfully tossed from a tube behind the family ski boat, the Banshee. Long summer days were spent floating in the cove under the sun, and evenings often ended around the kitchen table in spirited games of Hand & Foot. These moments --- filled with laughter, warmth and togetherness--- were the treasures of her life.

Memorials may be made in Carole's name to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital or St. Paul Catholic Church.

Carole’s legacy is one of steadfast faith, deep love for her family, and a home that was always open. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
