Carol Sue Spellmann

Carol Sue Spellmann, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Dennis Spellmann; cherished daughter of the late Vance and Lena Spreckelmeyer; devoted mother of Sheryl Kay Guffey and Earl William (Susan) Spellmann; loving grandmother of Ryan Vance (Laura) Guffey, Daniel Dennis (Tara) Guffey, Erika Iris Hoffman and Jarrett Thomas Green; treasured great-grandmother of Adalyn Kay Guffey, Vance Robert Guffey, Connor Thomas Guffey, William Daniel Guffey, Alexander Dennis Guffey, Margeaux, Gia, and Sophia.

As a long time Missouri resident, Sue attended Normandy High School, Missouri Valley College, where she met her life partner, and Maryville University. Advancing educational opportunities was an important part of Sue’s life. She was a primary school teacher in the Francis Howell system, a biologist and even a food scientist.

Sue was a tireless public servant, contributing to many non-profit and community projects. She was a member of Dardenne Presbyterian Church since 1970, Past President and member of P.E.O. Chapter JY since 1992 (creating the Chapter JY Foundation (student) Scholarship Program) past President of Delta Zeta Sorority and also a professional Bridge player.

Sue was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
