Carol Collins

Carolyn (Wehmeier) Collins beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026 at the age of 80.

She leaves behind two children, Phil (Kristin) Collins and Carrie (Rick) Stockamp and four grandchildren, Alaina (Patrick) Huebner, Grant (Andrea) Collins, Gabe (Julia) Collins and Kyle McCluskey. She was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Opal Wehmeier and several of her siblings.

She will be deeply missed by her two children and her four grandchildren, whom she adored. Her family was at the center of her life, and she was always there to support, encourage, and help her children in whatever way she could. She was especially treasured by her grandchildren and was the best babysitter they could have asked for when they were young. She cherished every moment with them and took great pride in watching them grow.

Carolyn began her career at Western Electric and later continued with AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Over the course of a remarkable 35-year career, she held many different roles and formed lasting friendships with the many people she worked with along the way. Her loyalty, kindness, and willingness to help others made her someone who was valued not only as a colleague, but as a friend.

Retirement brought new opportunities and interests. She learned Braille and became a transcriber for the National Federation of the Blind. She became an active member of her book club, Book Ends. The women she met through Book Ends became dear friends and the friendships she made there brought her great joy and companionship.

An avid reader, Carolyn could often be found with a book in hand. She loved reading and made her way through many books each month, always enjoying the opportunity to discover a new story or learn something new.

She will be remembered for her loyalty, generosity, and unwavering support of the people she loved. She was a dependable presence in the lives of her family. She was there when you needed her and always ready to listen and help. They will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She was deeply loved, and she will be greatly missed.
