Carla Teresa Crumes (nee Stanley), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the age of 67. Beloved daughter of Louis and Charliebelle Stanley, who preceded her in death; devoted mother of Keith Darryl Crumes Jr., Cassandra Crumes, and the late Carole and Charlene Crumes; beloved significant other of Mike Fay; loving grandmother of Kendall, Kamille, Karsyn, Kolten, Keely, Khloe, Maijor, Majesty, Prince, Brandon, D’shawn, Damien, and Dametreious; treasured great-grandmother of 8; and dear sister of Karen Stanley, Lois Stanley, and Louis Stanley.
Carla had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, bringing joy to those around her. She cherished traveling, especially trips to Washington, DC, to visit her sister Karen, and she enjoyed puzzles, Chinese soap operas, game shows, and outings with her friends. She loved to spend time with her daughter Casci. She also enjoyed spending time with her other half, Mike, and with her dear friends. Most of all, she treasured her bond with her sister Karen, with whom she spoke every single day.
Carla built a long career in the textile and linen field, working more than 30 years with West Point Pepperell Mill, Fieldcrest Cannon, and Phoenix Textile, where she was known for her dedication, loyalty, and warmth. She also devoted many years of her life to social work, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and care. Earlier in her life, from 1978 to 1980, she worked at the Ledward Barracks PX and Davis Travel Agency in Schweinfurt, Germany, and later in the 1980s at the Cav Country Inn PX in Fort Hood, Texas. In her later years, she continued serving her community by working with the Salvation Army before retiring.
Beyond her career, Carla was deeply engaged in her community. She assisted in Peggy Sherwin’s campaign for Missouri Representative, showing her dedication to civic involvement and her support for causes that mattered to her. She was also a faithful member of New Hope Christian Church for many years, where she served actively and at one point held the role of head of the ushers.
She enjoyed reading novels and watching sci-fi shows, and she especially cherished the time spent with all her beloved grandchildren—Damien, D’shawn, and Brandon being three she lovingly raised.
Loving and caring in every way, Carla was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Carla's name to the American Heart Association.
