Brian J. Sigg was born in Willmar, MN, to James and Myrtle Sigg 79 years ago. He was a 1965 high school graduate in Bridgewater, NJ and then in 1969 from Villanova University. His expertise with numbers landed an accounting career with Monsanto in New Jersey. He remained with the company through several mergers and acquisitions and ultimately reached the CFO position of Degussa.
Brian was deeply rooted in his faith and his love for family. As the “king of nicknames,” he had a special name for nearly everyone that brought smiles, especially his grandchildren. There was always laughter and confidence surrounding Brian. He was a passionate golfer, avid fisherman, and dedicated bicyclist. He was known for his quiet patience, steady kindness, and a good sense of humor that surfaced at just the right moment. He lived gently, loved deeply, and served faithfully.
Brian leaves behind his dear wife of 56 years, Beverly. He was a devoted father to Julie Sottile, Jason (Tarra) Sigg, and Tracy (Michael O’Dell) Sigg, and a loving grandfather to Erik Sottile, Ella Sottile, Carter Sigg, Avery Sigg, Bailey Sigg, and Ryder Sigg. He was also a dear brother to Bonnie (Mervyn) Thynne, Timothy (Kathleen) Sigg, and Mary Beth Schwegman. Brian was preceded in death by his parents, his son Eric Sigg, and brother Thomas Sigg.
Remember if you feel you’re in Dire Straits or make a “Mistake” (name of fishing boat where Brian and Beverly met), he’s watching from above and ready to meet us at the 19th hole. Heaven gained an honorable and truly extraordinary man. Rest in peace, our Brian.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be scheduled at a later date in New Jersey.
